How do I install backup client software?
- Email support@cs.ucsb.edu a list of hosts and directories to be backed-up.
Here are the the steps to setting up a client for backups:
- Install these RPMs:
ftp://ftp.cs.ucsb.edu/silo/nw714_linux_x86/lgtoclnt-7.1.4-1.i686.rpm
ftp://ftp.cs.ucsb.edu/silo/nw714_linux_x86/lgtoman-7.1.4-1.i686.rpm
- Edit file /nsr/res/servers and add dolly.cs.ucsb.edu
- Configure your firewall to allow dolly.cs.ucsb.edu access to all TCP ports
- Start the networker service.
For RPM-based linux distributions, run this command:
service networker start
NOTE: CS' backup services are subject to backup and rentention policies.
