Demo Guidelines --------------- I'm expecting the demos to last about 30 minutes, but plan for 45. Be prepared for the following: 1. Present the functionality of your system through some sort of prepared demo. Focus on the utility provided by your system. Ideally, I'm looking for systems that could potentially be used on a larger scale. Start with a semi-planned presentation lasting no more than 10 minutes and I'll ask to see more detail about specific parts of the system. 2. Each member should explain the tasks for which they were responsible. In some cases, building the ideal solution in the prototype is prohibitive, so describe how the prototype should have been built and how you actually implemented the function. The total time here should be about 10 minutes so each group member is only going to have a couple of minutes. Be complete and concise! 3. Mention parts of the prototype that don't work or have bugs. Discuss why the parts don't work and how they could potentially be fixed. I realize that doing a quarter-long, prototyped system built by a group is about the most difficult project possible. Things never turn out exactly as expected and most groups start way too late. With that in mind, I'm looking primarily for three things: (1) the original idea was both novel and significant; (2) there was substantial effort and moderate success, especially in implementing the challenging parts; and (3) the group learned something. At the same time though, be prepared for hard questions and tough grading.
