Assessment Form --------------- At the beginning of the quarter I said I was going to do group member assessment forms. Well, here they are. Originally, I was going to do it in class via an anonymous form, but I've decide to do it via e-mail and guarantee anonymity to people who send in forms. Whatever is said will not be used against the student submitting the form, and nothing said by one group member will be given to anyone else in the group. However, if someone still desires true anonymity you can just write out responses to questions here and put it in my box in the mail room. The basic idea is for me to make sure that everyone in the group did their fair share and that the grade I assign to the group should apply to everyone. In submitting feedback about the group, you can use whatever format you want, say whatever you want, and say it in any way you want. But my suggestion is to include three sections. --------------- Section I: Quantitative Score for Group Member Effort: On a scale of 1-10 (1 being worst, 10 being best), assign a number to each member of the group (including yourself). This is an "effort" assignment and should just measure effort to participate and contribute to the group, and willingness to undertake tasks necessary to complete the project. Section II: Quantitative Score for Group Member Contribution: On the same scale from 1-10, assign a number to each member for his/her technical contribution to the project. This takes into account more of a person's technical ability and commitment to completing the project successfully. The purpose of this score is not to punish those with less technical ability but to reward those who accomplished the most in the project. Section III: Qualitative Comments about any Group Members: Any other comments on group members that you think I should take into consideration. --------------- This is not an opportunity to bash your fellow group members and should not be used as such. I just want to give everyone an opportunity to give me feedback about how the groups interacted. And finally, if you think the group worked well and everyone did an equal amount of work and deserve an equal grade then you need not respond at all. I'll assume no-responses mean satisfactory responses. Make sure I have comments back by 5pm, March 20th.
