Project Presentation
The ability to communicate is very important to prospective employers. This presentation's purpose is to give you some experience with an oral, technical presentation.
| Where: | Lecture room |
| When: | See schedule on Lecture page. |
| Duration: | 30 minutes, including setup & discussion time. |
| Purpose: | Persuade your audience that your project is:
|
To the extent that it applies to your project, present your:
- Conceptual basis (e.g., for a distributed system, the computational model is part of the conceptual basis)
- API - how does an application interact with your project? Use a concrete example.
- GUI - illustrate it, if you have one.
- Architecture
- What are the key aspects of the design? How do they address the key technical issues?
- What are the key classes? How do they fit together?
If you demonstrate your system's key features, do not depend on the classroom computer's environment. Bring a laptop. Have a contingency plan, in case your demonstration does not work.
You may use the class computer for PowerPoint or other presentations (for access, make them world-readable in your public_html directory). Have a contingency plan, in case your PowerPoint does not work.
Practice your presentation to ensure that it is sharp, and completes within the time frame.
When judging your presentation, beyond the content mentioned above, I look for a presentation that is effective. Here is the form that I and the students fill out for each presentation: Evaluation form.
