Welcome to Diana's personal page. I'd just like to give you a taste of the hobbies I enjoy in my free time. I'm a doer, not a watcher. So here are some of the things I do!

I've played bassoon since 6th grade. My band teacher (I played saxophone) asked me if I wanted to play bassoon. I had no idea what one was, so I went home and looked it up in the dictionary (no google back then). Luckily, it even had a picture. Since it has the flexibility of being in an orchestra, I decided to try it. I continued playing saxophone in jazz band and marching band through high school, but playing bassoon in an orchestra in college was the first time I really loved playing bassoon. Those years were the best music years of my life.
For once, I have a way to put my years of bassooning to good use. Guitar Hero and Rock Band require some of those same skills, and I sure have enjoyed using them! Here I am, showing off with my 100% accuracy for a song on hard.

Ankhor Wat, Cambodia. These are the ancient Khmer ruins. Some of the ruins were where Tomb Raider was filmed. We hired a driver and bought a book on taking photos in Ankhor. We got up each day before sunrise to take spectacular sunrise pictures, and our driver took us on a route that would beat the tour buses to each site. Then we napped in the afternoon and went back out for sunset. By the 3rd day, I was templed out, but Fred just kept on climbing those billions of stairs!
Romantic Italy. Our honeymoon was spent in Italy, and here we are in Rome visiting the Collisseum.
We both got papers into a conference in Bangalore, so we took a jaunt to the Taj Majal. It was amazing. It looks like this large, gleaming structure of white marble from far away, but it is actually quite delicately carved with stone inlay. There is no way to capture the essence of the Taj Majal in photographs because it is striking from too many distances.

Rock Climbing. Just as I got into it, I discovered a degenerative neck problem with bone spurs. :( So I haven't done it as much as I would like, but it sure is fun!! Here I am in Mallorca, Spain.
I did my ocean dives in Thailand, where you can get cheap diving - and you get what you pay for! The piers were not long enough for the boats, so the boats were lined up one after another. You had to go through the intermediate boats to get to the dive boats, sometimes over planks of wood covering the bowels of the boat. Here I am in Bahamas diving with a dolphin. I also swam with wild dolphins in Belize in a once-in-a-lifetime chance encounter. Other notable dives were the turtles in Hawaii and the Manta Ray dive in Hawaii.
We enjoy ballroom dancing. Here we tango at our wedding.
