(The picture was taken in Lake Tahoe during ISVC05.) Welcome to my website! I'm Haiying, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Computer Science at University of California, Santa Barbara. My advisor is Prof. Matthew Turk. I received the Bachelor degree and the first Master degree in Electronic Engineering from Northern Jiaotong University (current Beijing Jiaotong University), Beijing, China. I received the second Master degree in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Republic of Singapore. I have one-year work experience as software engineer at CASCO LTD. Beijing, China; and another one-year work experience as research engineer at Centre for Signal Processing (currently, it was reorganized with other institutes to A* STAR), Singapore. I did my intern job at SIEMENS Medical Solutions in summer 2005. I have general background in Computer Vision, Image Processing, Machine learning and Pattern Recognition. I'm studying and working in those areas for more than 10 years (1994-2007). My current research is focusing on hand gesture/posture recognition using the manifold learning method.
