This assignment is supposed to familiarize you with the process of literature review in the research field of Mixed and Augmented Reality, and at the same time serve as inspiration (in the broadest sense) for the definition of your own (group or individual) course project.
Please review the last few years of proceedings for the following three specialized AR/MR/VR conferences:
You need to be have a campus IP address (potentially through the campus VPN) to access the IEEE and ACM digital libraries.
Pick a full-length (6 or more pages, not a 2-4 page 'poster' publication) research paper to review in the area of your choice. In order to get an overview of currently popular topics, I recommend that you look through the actual programs of the last 5 or so conferences for each series and scan at the very least the paper presentation sessions and their titles. That will give you a good understanding of patterns in re-occurring and trending topics in the overall fields of AR/XR and VR.
If you are already close to forming a group for project work in this class, you can coordinate among your group members the most suitable papers to review. However, each group member individually needs to review a separate paper. It is not a problem if the same paper is chosen between groups or students with individual research projects.
The review will be a written set of answers to questions resembling a conference or journal review that members of the research community routinely provide to each other for anonymous peer review, as a service to the field, but some questions will be specific to prompting thought about scoping a class project as well.
