AIMS AND SCOPE

The International Journal of Foundations of Computer Science is a bimonthly journal that publishes articles which contribute new theoretical results in all areas of the foundations of computer science. The theoretical and mathematical aspects covered include:

As computer science is an ever-evolving area, articles on other topics are also invited. The journal also aims to provide a forum for the communication and discussion of new fields needing more coverage and exposure, and thus hopes to publish new attempts and proposals for deepening the theoretical understanding of the nature of computation and information.

In order to provide a timely and broad coverage of this ever-evolving field, IJFCS offers its readers a mix of regular and special issues. Papers can be submitted for the regular issues of the journal, or in response to calls for papers for special issues.

Prospective guest editors should identify topics that require more coverage and exposure and propose special issues on those topics. Of a particular relevance would be special issues on new and interesting applications of theoretical computer science to various practical domains. Please submit your proposal for a special issue to the Editor-in-Chief.

GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS

  1. Manuscripts for the regular issues are to be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief, or to one of the Managing Editors. Manuscripts for a special issue should be submitted to the Guest Editor(s) of the special issue. Please submit a postscript file of the paper.
  2. With some exceptions, the limit on the paper's length is around 25 IJFCS-formatted pages (see Manuscript Instructions at http://www.cs.ucsb.edu/~ijfcs/ for the style files).
  3. Submission of a manuscript indicates a tacit understanding that the paper is not under consideration for publication with other journals.
  4. If copyrighted material is used, the author should obtain the necessary copyright release and submit it along with the manuscript.
  5. Once a paper is accepted, authors are assumed to cede copyrights of the paper over to WSPC.
  6. All papers will be acknowledged and refereed. They will not be returned.
  7. For final manuscript preparation and submission, see the instructions at http://www.cs.ucsb.edu/~ijfcs/. Submission of the final manuscript implies that the manuscript is in its final form. Deviations from the instructions will cause publication delay.
  8. There will be no page charge for the journal.
  9. Authors will be provided with 50 free reprints. Purchase orders for additional reprints can be made on order forms which will be sent to authors.
