I received my M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2006 and 2007, respectively under the supervision of Prof. Divyakant Agrawal and Prof. Amr El Abbadi, and my B.S. degree in computer and systems engineering from Alexandria University in 2000.

My research focuses on database systems, the new applications of data management and data mining, distributed systems, and peer-to-peer systems. I have publications in the areas of data streams, mining association rules, OLAP and data cubes, and the implementation of data management algorithms on specialized hardware. My main Ph.D. work and dissertation proposed data management techniques for analyzing Internet advertising traffic as a comprehensive approach for click fraud detection.

Throughout my PhD, I worked at several Internet Advertising Commissioners including Google, Ask.com, Valueclick, Fastclick, and Commission Junction. Since June 2007, I have been with the Query Optimization Department at Oracle.

I once heard that other people do some stuff other than work, and I was adventurous enough to try  it. Since that time, I learned some stuff and I enjoy doing them every now and then. I run like 6 miles every day. Occasionally, I play chess, table tennis, basketball, tennis, pool, frisbee, and swim. Once upon a time, I planned to become a professional guitar player or a painter, but I realized this could be too risky of a career. I am regretting this now...
