Call for Workshops (PDF)

We invite workshop proposals for the 2011 IEEE Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition (FG 2011) in Santa Barbara, CA. Accepted workshops will take place on March 24 and 25, 2011, in the same venue as the FG 2011 main conference, the Doubletree Resort in Santa Barbara, CA.

We solicit proposals on any topics of interests to the FG community. Complementary to the main venue, we especially encourage proposals that are stemmed from emerging new fields or new application domains related to face and gesture analysis. Interdisciplinary topics that could attract a significant cross-section of the community are highly valued. Workshop organizers who have a strong track record in the field will be a plus. Workshop proposals can be sent to the workshop chair, Gang Hua (ganghua AT gmail.com), with email subject "FG 2011 Workshop Proposal: [title of your workshop]". A proposal should include the following information to facilitate the decision process:

  • Title, technical topics, and sample call for papers;
  • Two or three paragraphs to justify the workshop of interest;
  • Specify the relationship, if any, to previous workshops;
  • Name, email contact, and short bio of each of the main organizers;
  • Tentative length of the workshop (one-half day to two full days);
  • Tentative program committee, and invited speakers, if any;
  • Estimated number of submissions and acceptance rate;
  • Specify if a poster session will be included;
  • Preferred date(s);
  • Special space or equipment requests, if any;
  • Tentative paper submission and review schedule;
  • Specify if there will be non-peer reviewed invited paper, if so, how many?
  • Requested financial support from the main conference (generally less than $600.00);

In coordination with the main conference, the workshop paper submission, review, acceptance notification, and final manuscript due must all be handled between December 9 and January 19. The final version due date should be the same day as the main conference final paper due. Financial support from the main conference is not guaranteed and is depending on budget.
The deadline for all workshop proposals is October 20, 2010. Decisions will be made by November 15, 2010. We encourage all accepted workshops to use the Microsoft CMT system for handling the paper submissions and reviews.

For any additional questions please contact Gang Hua, FG 2011 Workshops Chair, by emailing ganghua AT gmail.com.
