My research focuses on application of database principles on biological data to discover functional relationships among proteins. My dissertation combines information from a wide range of readily available sources to discover functional relationships among proteins via mining and learning algorithms. For example, protein structures provide one of the most valuable information sources for functional evaluation of proteins. I developed an efficient structure similarity comparison tool, PSI, to assist discovering global structural similarity relations. I have also performed automated protein classification and protein interaction network synthesis using diverse information sources. My thesis advisor is Ambuj Singh.
