Teri (whose given name, Sotiria, means salvation, and is therefore too heavy to throw around on a daily basis) is a native Greek import who came to Santa Barbara via Chicago, and the University of, eight years ago. She works as a postdoctoral researcher in Computer Science at UCSB, at the interface of computation and the physical and biological sciences. She has a passion for well-balanced hardware, elegant computational experiments, and is the author of the Multinomial Simulation Algorithm for biochemical simulation. She tries hard to make time for racing sailboats, rock-climbing and playing amateur mechanic. One of her most prized possessions is a letter of rejection from the European Space Agency for the job of "astronaut".
