The PDCS'10 conference was again a complete success.  Our conference
continues to be a truly international conference.  We had a significant
number of papers from Asia and Europe as well as from the US. 


In addition to a strong technical program, we had an excellent Keynote
Presentation.

* Professor Kai Hwang from the University of Southern California
presented his Keynote Address entitled 
 
    Security, Privacy, and Data Protection for Trusted Cloud Computing

 He discussed cloud computing issues and gave an excellent presentation
 about how computing has been changing during the past decade. You may

 Part of this material is from his forthcoming book on Cloud Computing.

Awards Ceremony
  The Best Paper Awards for PDCS'10 were given to the following papers.

* Best Paper Awards
  There were about 80 papers submitted and 46 papers were were part
  of the PDCS final program. The papers were partitioned into 8
  different technical sessions. About 20% of the papers were nominated (by the
  reviewers) for the Best Paper Awards, and about 20% of the papers were
  awarded the Best Paper Awards.   The awards were announced
  during the Banquet.  The four papers that received this award were: 

  * Best Paper Award in the Area of Distributed Computing:
    Using Virtualization to Validate Fault-Tolerant Distributed Systems,
    by I. Hsu, A. Gallagher, M. Le, and Y. Tamir (UCLA)
	
  * Best Paper Award in the Area of Scheduling, Load Balancing and Resource Allocation:
    A Firefly Algorithm-based Approach for Scheduling Task Graphs in
    Homogeneous Systems, by  U. Honig (Fern University in Hagen, Germany) 

  * Best Paper Award in the Area of Parallel Computing Applications:
    An Efficient Parallel Algorithm for SKEIN Hash Functions,
    by K. Atighehchi, A.  Enache, T. Muntean, and G. Riserucci,
       (Universit´e de la M´editerran´eeee, France)

  * Best Paper Award in the Area of Parallel Algorithms:
    Exact Inference on Manycore Processors using Pointer Jumping,
    by  N. Ma, Y. Xia, and V. Prasanna (University of Southern California)


We have started the initial preparation for the 23st IASTED
International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing
and Systems (PDCS'11) and we are considering several alternatives
to enhance our technical program. You will all receive further
announcements in the near future and we hope we can count
again with your support.
