PhD Candidate, Computer Science University of California, Santa Barbara
Welcome to my webpage. I am a PhD Candidate in Computer Science at UCSB. I am a member of Distributed Systems Lab (DSL), where I work with Professors Divyakant Agrawal and Amr El Abbadi. I am interested in various challenges involved in large-scale data management and am currently working on problems arising due to the variety of big data, in structure as well as access. Some of the problems involved are: designing techniques which aim to attain near real-time analytical results as well as high throughput of transactional operations; and maintaining consistency of data spread and accessed across heterogenous datastores. Problems involving management of data in multi-data center environments also interest me.
During the course of my PhD, I have interned at Amazon in Seattle during the summer of 2012 and 2013. During the summer of 2014, I was a research intern at Hp Labs in Palo Alto. In summer 2015, I was a research intern in the Database group at Microsoft Research in Seattle, working with Justin Levandoski. Prior to joining UCSB, I worked at Yahoo! Research and Development at Bangalore, India. I did my undergraduate studies in Computer Science at National Institue of Technology, Trichy, located in the southern part of India.
Aside from the world of Computer Science, I enjoy going on hiking trails, and there are many of them around Santa Barbara. I also dance Salsa, Bachata and some other partner dances. I have recently taken to playing some Tennis and also relish watching a fair dosage of sports, especially Cricket.
