During the competition, the 36 teams generated 8.79Gb of traffic.
We registered 15.520 successful attacks, performed by 26 teams (almost 20% of them were done by Chocolate Makers. Impressive!!)
This graph shows the best attacker team (percentage of flags submitted):
Chocolate Makers and squareroots were the only teams to attack all the 7 services.
The victims of the attacks were more or less equally distributed between all the 36 teams, with few exceptions:
- WCSC was the preferred victim, with 1181 flag stolen.
- Squareroots was the best defender, with only 101 flag stolen.
Cheddar Horsemen and SYPER were the only two teams with all the 7 services hacked.
Eight teams share the title of best defender with only one service hacked:
| Team | Hacked service |
| Miner's Threat: | amends |
| CInsects: | amends |
| ENOFLAG: | shakedown |
| Army of Darkness: | shakedown |
| 0ld Eur0pe: | amends |
| We_0wn_Y0u: | snitch |
| HackerDom: | shakedown |
| squareroots: | petition |
(looks like amends and shakedown were the Achilles' heel of the best defenders).
All the services have been successfully hacked, as show by this graph:
And finally, something about the quests:
- First team to answer a question: Chocolate makers
- First team to finish the first row: 0ld Eur0pe
- First team to finish the second row: Squareroots
- First team to finish a column: CInsects
- Team that answered (legally) more questions: HackerDom
Number of teams that answered each question:
| Amends | Copyright | Petition | Shakedown | Snitch | Therapy | Wouldyou |
| 14 | 25 | 27 | 15 | 15 | 23 | 10 |
| 8 | 23 | 28 | 17 | 11 | 14 | 6 |
| 15 | 4 | 5 | - | 3 | - | 9 |
Some of the answers submitted by the teams were quite interesting.
For example, "Hack The Planet" was somehow a difficult sentence to reconstruct, as shown by the attempts submitted by this team:
- hac hjte palanet
- hac hte palanet
- h;ac hjte palanet
- h;ac hte palanet
- ha hte psnet
- h;ac hte palanet
- h;ac hte palanet
- hack the planet
- has the power
- hacks the panters
- hacks the pant
- hacks the pants
- hacks the pants
- hacks the pants
- hacks the pants
- hack the planet
Fredrick was trying to steal pretty much everything, including "the helmet of the policeman".
For the name of the pizza delivery company, most of the team though that they probably had to invent their own name. We received dozens of interesting proposal (Louis' Italian American Restaurant, Mafiosa, mafiozzo, pizzilla, pinocchio pizza, il padrino pizza and pasta house, The Pizza Connection, Pizzaland, sicilian mafia pizza, Pizza Shoot, shakies shakedown pizza, pistol pizza...)
Of course, somebody tried "Giovanni's" and some teams also found an existing www.mafiapizza.com.
For some of you the guy in the mysterious picture was Linus Torvalds (!?), Micheal Moore (well.. kind of), or Peter Griffin (did they make a movie with real actors?). However, 4 (!!) teams though that he was Giovanni Vigna (ouch)
