About

I am a PhD student in Computer Science at U.C. Santa Barbara. Since 2006 I have been working in the Multimedia Database Laboratory under supervision of Prof. Edward Y. Chang. I am interested in the area of data mining, machine learning, and parallel computing. One of the interesting things I am working on is to parallel probabilistic models with Orkut dataset, which aims to provide personalized community recommendation not only effectively but also efficiently. The details please refer to Research page. I am currently on leave from UC, working with Google Research team at Beijing, China.

Before joining UCSB, I graduated with B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from National Chiao-Tung University. For my bachelor's project, we built up an integrated network security proteciton system providing auto patching and remote scanning services, which assists users in defending their computers from virus and trojans. This work received the Research Creativity Award from National Science Council. In my master work, we proposed an agent-based system to improve QoS over wireless networks, which aims to manage the resource information of the wireless access points and to provide clients with anticipate assistance. This work was nominated for Best Paper Award in COMPSAC'06 conference. Meanwhile, I served as Cisco Certified Academy Instructor at Cisco Academy Training Center where I led hands-on labs and classes.
