Divyakant Agrawal Receives 2026 ACM SIGMOD Contributions Award
CS department chair and distinguished professor Divy Agrawal has been recognized with the 2026 ACM SIGMOD Contributions Award, the highest honor awarded by the database community for service and leadership.
The award recognizes “outstanding service to the database field through new community initiatives, professional service, standards activities, standards activities, and research funding.” Agrawal is being honored for the transformations he led as Chair of ACM SIGMOD from 2021 to 2025, which significantly strengthened the flagship SIGMOD conference and its broader research community.
This recognition places Agrawal among a distinguished group of past recipients whose contributions have shaped the field of data management over decades. The award includes a $5,000 honorarium and will be presented at ACM SIGMOD 2026.
Agrawal’s leadership reflects a sustained commitment not only to advancing research in data systems, but also to building and supporting the communities that make that work possible.
