The University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Computer Science for 2019 -2020 academic year with the potential for a joint appointment in another department, in areas encompassing Computer Science and Neuroscience that include, but are not limited to: network science, neuro-computer architecture, computational vision, biologically-inspired machine learning, and computational neuroscience. For primary consideration apply by November 30, 2018; however, the position will remain open until filled.

PhD in Computer Science or related field preferred. At a minimum in order to be considered, applicants should have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field, except the dissertation (or equivalent) at the time of application. PhD degree must be conferred by time of appointment. Applicants showing outstanding research potential, interdisciplinary focus, and have a strong commitment to teaching are also preferred.

UC Santa Barbara is a premier public research university. The Department of Computer Science is part of the highly ranked College of Engineering, which includes among its faculty three Nobel laureates and 29 members of the National Academy of Engineering. There are numerous opportunities to interact or collaborate with faculty on campus interested in various aspects of brain science, including the Neuroscience Research Institute, the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, the Dynamical Neuroscience Program, and the Cognitive Science Program.
