By Saehee Jong, Communications & Special Events Assistant, and Professor Arpit Gupta

Congratulations to third-year Ph.D. student Sanjay Chandrasekaran, selected as one of the three recipients (globally) of the prestigious M-Lab Research FellowshipM-Lab is an open Internet measurement lab led by Google Inc. and Code for Society and Sciences teams. Sanjay works with Professor Arpit Gupta at Systems and Networking Lab, UCSB.

Sanjay's research focuses on democratizing networking research in the era of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He has been developing a large-scale programmable data-collection infrastructure that collects network packets in a privacy-preserving manner for networking research. He will be using it to study the relationship between the quality of experience (QoE) and the metrics we can collect through active and passive network measurements. Understanding this relationship is critical in improving a user's experience with various web applications, such as Youtube, Zoom, etc. Read the full project proposal here.
