The Computer Science Department is pleased to announce that the
UCSB Academic Senate has selected Prof. Chandra Krintz
as a recipient of the 2008/9 Distinguished Teaching Award. This
university-wide award is a tremendous accomplishment and honor
as the Senate considers faculty at all ranks and levels of experience.
This award recognizes the awardee’s dedication to students and their
unification of excellence in teaching and creative scholarly research.
Remarkably, Prof. Krintz is the fourth faculty member in the Computer
Science Department to win this prestigious award since 2003:
Prof. Giovanni Vigna (2003/4), Prof. Rich Wolski (2004/5), and
Prof. Kevin Almeroth (2006/7).

This award for Prof. Krintz follows two others: the 2008
College of Engineering Computer Science Faculty of the Year
Award for teaching excellence voted on by the 2008 graduating
seniors, and the 2008 Computing Research Association’s Committee
on the Status of Women Anita Borg Early Career Award (BECA), for
contributions to research and mentoring.
