The Capstone project gives Computer Science and Computer Engineering students the opportunity to put their education into practice. Students, working in teams, design and engineer innovative software systems using cutting-edge technologies and architectures to tackle problems “donated” by industry leaders. The projects span a wide variety of areas including distributed computing, networking, mobile computing, embedded systems, data mining, and security.

The prize this year for the “Computer Engineering Capstone Project Presentation Day Best Computer Science Project” award went to “CrowdWise”. Team members Jesse Farless, Zach Gross, Colin Langton, TengChek Lim, Mike Rosengarten, and David Sigal took home the $600 award for their project at the June 4th event. CrowdWise is a human-driven solution to answering picture-oriented questions. The group built a service that utilized Amazon’s Mechanical Turk to answer questions related to pictures in an efficient manner. For more information CrowdWise see their website.
